I have been invited to speak to up to 400 pastors at a conference being held in western Kenya in June of 2012. After much praying and abundant confirmation (which I discussed in a recent podcast) I have accepted this invitation, and will be teaching three days on evangelism, discipleship, and leadership to pastors from Kenya, Uganda, and Rwanda.
I am seeking to spend much of the time I have for preparation in diligent study of the topics I will be speaking about, so I can not only provide them with the very best information, but also to produce a major video series on the topics for those back home.
As I discussed in the podcast there is an interesting opportunity for me to stay for an additional two months after the conference, visiting the Ugandan churches as well as other churches all over Kenya, and in that time I hope to accomplish many things:
1.) To provide the very best bible based teaching for the pastors (at the conference and after), so that they will be equipped to serve their congregations. Teaching the importance of bible exposition in discipleship and gospel centered evangelism.
2.) To provide the pastors who do not have bibles of there own a copy of the scriptures in their native language (hard copies when possible).
3.) To produce digital copies of study resources such as concordances, and format them for old style cell phones and deliver them via Bluetooth technology. (discussed in the podcast) Which I think can begin a whole new chapter in the spread of the Word and solid bible teaching in Africa as a whole.
4.) To record as much bible teaching in Swahili as possible, and start an online and offline archive of digital resources.
5.) To study the local false teachings and cults and see if there is any help I can offer in producing refutations of them.
6.) To acquire as much teaching audio in Swahili as possible, as well as audio bibles for use in a project which would use small FM transmitters in church steeples to broadcast 1-3 miles.
7.) If possible to provide materials such as one camcorder and one laptop for a key pastor so that he will be able to record teaching series’ and distribute digital copies, and continue many of the projects that will have been started.
8.) To produce high quality video documentary about some missionary initiatives being done by my hosts who do work with orphans and education in one of the poorest districts in Africa.
9.) To keep my eyes, ears, and heart open to whatever the Lord wants to show or teach me personally while there.
10.) To be a blessing to Africa in any way that I can and to bring fame honor and Glory to Jesus Christ.
